PDQ
A non-starch based additive. This additive is
loaded and works the same as PDQ-H. The
exception is that the end product will have a brownish tint.
PDQ-H
A non-starch based additive. This additive uses photo (UV)
and oxidative methods to reduce the molecular weight of the
plastic. After the molecular weight is reduced to a certain
level, the biological process begins. The end product manufactured
with this additive will be clear. The recommended loading
of this additive is 1-3% by weight, depending on the end
product requirements. This additive when used with PP and
PE, has been tested and found to be acceptable for food contact
applications.
ADVANTAGES TO USING PDQ AND PDQ-H
Using
PDQ-H can make clear film, whereas PDQ can make a brownish
tint film, depending on the requirements of the user. Moisture
is not a problem because it contains no starch. Degradation
can be made fast or slow by adjusting the percentage of additive.
Cost. While it is more expensive per pound, the cost by weight
of film produced is comparatively less expensive. This product
is a Masterbatch additive to be used with your PE or PP. UV-H
has many of the above capabilities, but utilize ultra violet
rays for degradation.
Willow Ridge Plastics makes
three non-cornstarch based additives - PDQ, PDQ-H,
and UV-H. They are used for degrading plastics where starch
is not necessary.
These three additives are not made with cornstarch.
They are made with proprietary ingredients to disintegrate
plastic by
oxo-bio degradation oxidation and photodegradation.
